C. Lamont Smith is from Omaha, Nebraska. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in communications from Clark Atlanta and subsequently a Law Degree from Howard University. He has over 25 years’ experience in Sports Agency, Sports Marketing, and Health and Hospitality Law. In 1987, Mr. Smith founded All Pro Sports and Entertainment (ASPE), a management firm where he has earned an impressive reputation negotiating over 250 NFL contracts. One of his most high-profile clients is Detroit Lions’ Hall of Famer Barry Sanders, who became the highest-paid player in the NFL in 1997. He continues to represent Sanders in certain marketing endorsements. C. Lamont Smith also represents All-Pro running back Eddie George, who became the NFL’s highest paid running back at the time of his contract signing in 2001. During his successful career, Smith has represented many Hall of Fame players and rising stars like Steve Atwater. His key accomplishments and awards include becoming the first and only sports agent to grace the cover of the Prestigious Business Magazine, Black Enterprise. On July 1, 2001, Lamont received the BSAA award for his record-setting contract negotiations on behalf of Eddie George, Jerome Bettis and Trevor Pryce. Sports Illustrated named Mr. Smith to it’s Top 100 Most Influential Minorities in Sports two years in a row. USA Today described Mr. Smith as a “Pioneer.” Outside of his accomplished career, he has extensive Board of Directors experience. He has served as chairperson of the Black Entertainment Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA), whose members represent such notable superstars as Stevie Wonder, Snoop, Prince, and Halle Barry. Mr. Smith also volunteers with Colorado Special Olympics, The Colorado Medical Board, and other deserving organizations. He enjoys physical fitness, travel, world cuisine and spending time with family. His extensive board experience and legal expertise are powerful assets for the LID Foundation.
